Governing With Authority

The absence of Data Governance is a common contributor to the risk and failure of an enterprise. The management of Business Terms, Definitions, Calculations, complex Data Lineage quickly become unattainable without a solution that makes it easy to capture, track, monitor, collaborate, review and approve changes to core business data elements.

Masai's Data Governance module (embedded in the M:GRID) provides complete visibility into changes in the enterprise, and allows a convenient way for Governance Groups to manage, review, and approve changes. These groups are normally diverse cross-functional groups in both Business and IT.

Now you can have Analysts working with Report Writers in IT on report name definitions, or Traders working with Developers on equity calculation definitions. In house groups can work with each other; Developers working with DBAs, Architects working Developers etc. Concurrently, stakeholders (or subscribers) can be notified of changes or approvals.

Peer governance groups can also have different views of the same information without impeding on each other. A simple example is when Sales calls something "Partner" while IT calls it "Customer" and DBA's call it "Member". All are referring to the same information but with different meanings, and can discuss and agree on the merits of merging all 3 meanings.

With governance you can see what changed, where, when, by whom, discuss it, then approve it.
